Rápido

Well, realizing that I only have 2 more months left on my mission was a crazy and scary thought.  It is insane how time flies and this week was yet another fast one!

This week was chilly again and mostly overcloud but when Friday cam it was just perfect weather.  That is Rare in Sao Paulo!  It was sunny with a cold breeze and everyone was loving it!!!

Laura and Beatriz continue to be the cutest.  They were super excited for our lesson and they pick things up fast.  Mosiah 3:19 is true folks.

Jane came to church and liked it.

One lady we met this week had her leg amputated about a year ago form diabetes.  Her husband died as well and she was telling us about her story- wow.  Its amazing to hear her and she has so much faith and confidence in God.  She lives by herself, cleans, cooks etc all herself.  She will get a prosthetic leg soon.  It't an awesome reminder that no matter what situation we are in, we can choose to have faith and be happy and grateful.

That's the challenge for the day/week: Have faith, be happy and be grateful!!

Só Vai (Just do It)

This week we worked até o pó.

It was great!

We have been teaching Rose, a friend of Anselmo for the past few weeks.  When she isn't working.  She is hilarious and a happy person.  We weren't sure how interested she was, but when she prayed it was very sweet and sincere.  She came to church for the first time yesterday and loved it!  She said she felt happier than usual, and for sure would come again.  She also brought along a friend of hers :)

We have been finding a lot of new people to teach and it was awesome seeing the few people who were receptive really listen to our message.

One of the best moments of the week was being led by the spirit to knock on doors on one street and finding our friend Jane.  We have been teaching Jane whose mom was a member but died a while ago.  She is one of the sweetest people and really has a desire to know what path she should take in her life.  We are actually teaching her again later today.  So I am excited.  Updates to come.

One of the hardest moments of the week was one gloomy day when we received no after no... and when our friend who has been learning about the church said she would be moving.

Lara is 9 and wants to be baptized.  Her mom is returning to church as well.  We are teaching her and her cousin Beatrice together.  It is so awesome to hear them explain and bear their sweet pure testimonies.  Children are the best.  One thing we saw this week was when you truly listen to the spirit, and let it guide you in everything you are guided to miracles.  I love this gospel.

Novidades

My new companheira is Sister Matig-a from the Philippines! She is the cutest.  We get a long great and she is doing awesome so far.  She speaks English and Tagalog so you  bet i am going to try to learn things in Tagalog!

This week was good and I am helping Sister Matig-a  get accustomed to everything about mission life :)  She arrived with about 18 other American Elders, one who is Elder Satteson from Saratoga Springs.  Turns out he knows some of the Jeppson crew and worked with Ethan my cousin.  Cool Stuff.  He is in the ward that meets right after ours on Sunday.

This week decided to have summer weather.  Back to non-stop sweating :)

We had some awesome finding experiences this week that included a woman named Alice.  We started covering and she said, "Do you want to come in?" and of course, we said yes!  She is super sweet and said she is needing to follow the gospel of Jesus and get her life back on track and such.  We had such a neat lesson with her and she was so happy and gracious to receive the Book of Mormon.  We also contacted a family: a Grandpa and some of his Grandkids.  It was the cutest thing because the Grandsons of 14, 10, and 6 years old were excited to talk to us asking what Portuguese words are in English and Tagalog.  The 10 year old was super interested in the Book of Mormon and they are excited for us to return.  The Lord truly puts amazing people in our path.

Amo Voces e boa semana!!

Transfers

Sister Conceisao is being transferred! I will train a new sister. Pretty crazy since we were expecting to stay together at least one more transfer.  But, ya just go with it.

Other news of the Week:

One day I thought I was going to explode or pop from all of the food I ate.  Basically, every appointment we had they offered us food or juice.  Man it was rough haha.  You would think I would be used to this by now but I can tell you that I am not.

Jose is awesome and continually reads the Book of Mormon each day.  The only bummer is his health issues so he can't make it to church despite him wanting to.  But tudo vai dar certo:)

We had a few harder days where it seemed like nobody wanted to listen/talk to us and everything fell through.  But, one thing I have learned is to be happy all the time, no matter the setbacks.  And the little successes we do have make all the hard times worth it.  The Lord's work is the best work!

Graças Damos, O Deus Por um Profeta.....

This week was AMAZING and also I can't believe it is September already!

We had some great days this week where almost everything went as planned, we taught a lot, etc.  These days are the best.

Jose, turns out is 82 years old!  We thought he was 60...healthy guy for his age.  But we taught him with 2 members of our ward this week, and they gave him a priesthood blessing of health for him to not have a surgery.  Way cool, and the spirit was strong.  I know the priesthood really is God's power and authority on earth.

We had a family night with some members, less actives, and their friends who are interested in learning about the church.  It was super cool.  We could tell that everyone enjoyed it and felt the sting spirit there.

Zone conference was awesome.  Some things i liked:
- work on more specific, meaningful prayers.  The more specific we are the more specific answers we'll receive.

-Happiness versus true joy- happiness is generally temporary given from things of the world.  True joy is attained through the gospel of Jesus Christ.  True joy=the temple and eternal families.

Devotional with our prophet, President Russell M. Nelson!!!

Definitely the highlight of the week.  He did a devotional for the missionaries but it was broadcasted and the signal fell through most of it.  We will have to rematch it somehow but the small parts we got were great! And... on Sunday, we went to a giant event center in Anhembi along with thousands of other members and missionaries to have a devotional for all of Brazil.  It was AMAZING!!  Elder Quentin L. Cook and his wife and Elder Aidukaitis and his wife (from the 70) also spike.  I can't even explain how awesome it was.  Wow!  Some of my favorite things they said:

- Smile! Have Joy!
-Daily repentance is essential
-Be on, and stay on the covenant path
-The doctrine of the Savior is Zero contention.
-Read the Book of Mormon in your families.
-Teach your children to keep the commandments

President Nelson had the children stand and sing "I Am a Child of God" as he began his talk, and wow, the spirit was strong.  He also said that he left all his notes/scriptures/etc at his seat, and that what he said was truly what he felt he needed to say.  He spoke about the pure and simple truths/doctrines of the gospel.  It was awesome to see that really the gospel is pure and simple.  At the end he gave an apostolic blessing on Brazil and it's people.  Never will I forget that moment.  The spirit was so strong.  At the very end, he bore his testimony and started speaking in Portuguese.  He spoke perfectly.  Even though he does not know Portuguese.  But through the power of God, and as our living prophet who holds all of the priesthood keys, he spoke in perfect Portuguese as he finished his talk.  In that moment was one of the times I have felt the Spirit so strong.  Never will I forget it.  The sweet, powerful Spirit continued as we ended with a prayer and as we waved him goodbye with white hankerchiefs singing "We Thank Thee of God for a Prophet"  I did not want that moment to end.  This is true joy!

I also saw many wonderful friends there, including (sister) Maria Enout, Sister Knudson, Sister Godfrey from the CTM, other missionaries from my mission and many members from my first area.  It was a great reunion.  Super awesome!

I know this gospel is true, and our prophet, President Russell M. Nelson leads and guides us in these latter days!

Boa Semana!!!
