Happy for Health

Happy late thanksgiving! Thankful for so many things, and one of those things this week that Sis. Gomez and I are both grateful for is health! Right after I got better, Sis. G got sick..
for 2 days throwing up because she can't eat bananas, but she ate it a lot from members last weekend. And she will not do that anymore haha.  Learned her lesson.  It was a bummer to stay inside for so long and lose time. So that threw a wrench in the week- but we keep on keeping on. A good thing!!  When I called to let Sister Miller (mission presidents wife) know Sister Gomez was sick, I was having a hard time speaking straight English haha. I had to really try hard ahha. Sooo while I'm not super good yet, at least I can see my progress with that.

-I HAVE LICE AHHHHHHH. Seriously after everything this week, lice was the finale. I figured it out yesterday, and my head has been itchy, but I just thought it was due to my normal dry skin and how much I sweat. but nope! turns out i have lice, when I saw the bug in my hair. I think I got it from staying at the others sisters house two weeks ago and slept on an old pillow there. NEVER AGAIN will I do that haha. I spent the evening showering, buying a comb and shower cap, and luckily Sis Gomez had some shampoo for lice from the CTM, since some girl there had it. I think I spent more than an hour in the shower, and then soaked my head in vinegar all night, then Sis Gomez went through my hair this morning, and I will have a sister from church go through it tonight. and shower again and again, and constantly wash everything. UGH so gross. So thats the big thing of this week now.

But we are now both healthy and grateful to be back 100%.

One couple that we are teaching had an awesome experience with fasting this week. The husband has been looking for work the past 5 months, and when he and his wife visitied church, the lesson that day was on fasting. So, he wanted to fast to find work. He and his wife asked  us to join them to fast for this purpose, and this sunday at church, he told us that he is going to be interviewed today! So awesome, and really shows the power and miracles that fasting brings.

Transfers are today, and Sis. Gomez and I are staying in the area! We are excited, and will spend Christmas here in Ermelino Matarazzo. :) Also it is crazy how fast time flies!!!
scripture of the week:

Alma 27:16-19
Love this scripture and it talks about how we can have true joy if we really want it and are willing to be happy! So I challenge you all to be more happy, and spread your happiness with others!

amo vocês! boa semana!

-because they don't have Thanksgiving here, Christmas is in every store and a lot of houses already. And in every store they have paneltone, which is fruitcake haha. Pretty funny.

-We helped paint at a ward member´s house this week, which was pretty fun because we painted the kitchen a blue/green color.

-I was sick this week, which was not so fun, but I am all good now.

-We had a really cool lesson with Adrian, and his sister and friend. they asked so many questions, and it was neat to talk with them and share with them.

-sis. gomez made me a cute sign for my bday, and some members made a cake to celebrate. And loved my bday package!

I have no time for other details and such today....and I can't send pictures because my flashdrive is broken! ahh i will try and find a new one for next week.  i have pics, but just cant' send them today.

Olá to my favorite people

Coisas deste semana rapidinho...

-We had an amazing experience this week: A ward member, Sueli accompanied us for a few hours on Wednesday and we were knocking doors, and finding people to talk with when we walked past a house, but turned back around to knock because we all felt like we should knock there. A mom opened the door, and we started talking with her, when she called to her daughter, and invited us inside for her daughter to meet us as well. First time ever that that happened! (someone inviting us inside the first time meeting us). We then had a super awesome time talking with them about the church and teaching them about the restoration. They were both super receptive and happy that we were there, because they are having a hard time with some things right now. They kept saying how it was an answer to their prayers that we were there.

-We also taught another women who knows a bit about the church because her sister is a member and served a mission. She came to church with us on Sunday, and had a great experience. It made me so happy to see the smile on her face when she was there.

-Three others came to church with us as well this Sunday, which was super awesome. One in particular, C, said he felt a lot of peace and happiness during it, and he enjoyed it a lot. Goooood stuuuufff.

-Had açai 2 times this week from membros muito toppp:)

Olááá

Oláááá

I can't believe it is November! Time just flies. And it is just heatin up here in São Paulo. I don't think I have stopped sweating this week. Just the beginning haha.

What I can remember from this week...

-I had divisions with Sister Borges! Foi bom. Despite a lot of our compromissos falling through, we talked with some really awesome people. And one family had a guitar and when they found out that I play, wanted me to play for them a little, which was super fun.

-We ate feijoada two times this week, (Sister Gomez's first time was a little rough haha.) Feijoada is basically black beans, and any and all parts of pig meat in a soupish-like dish, with rice (of course). I can't say I am a huge fan of it haha...it can be very strong and interesting depending on the meat you get. And I just happened to get a large chunk of pure fat, and had to eat all of it. Whew...lets just say I felt that for the next couple days.

-We taught a family of Bolivianos this week, and it was super awesome. (there are actually a lot of Bolivianos in our area). Its a blessing that Sister Gomez speaks Spanish! They speak and understand Portuguese, but are more comfortable in Spanish.  I was able to understand a majority of the Spanish, (its very similar to Portuguese) and I just responded to them in Portuguese. They had a lot of questions, and we had a really cool converstation with them. Pessoas muito legais.

-We got caught in another quick but strong rain/wind storm this week.  When I say strong, I mean it haha. We had a hard time walking because of the wind, but were able to wait out the rain under a canopy of a store. And while waiting there, we had a an awesome conversation with a guy who asked who we were when he saw our missionary tags. Turns out he knows a little about our religion, and is at a time where he is unsure of what  religion is right, with all the many churches today. And the amazing thing is (and we shared this with him) you can find out for yourself through study and prayer! The invitation is simple...read the Book of Mormon, and if you pray with faith and real intent, you can and will receive an answer! If you are curious, try it out!

-I still have tons to learn with Portuguese, but was reminded to focus on my progress this week. I was talking with Sister Miller at our stake conference, and translating for her for a question Sister Gomez had, and had a hard time speaking English! Cool moment.
